The Institute is directly led by Mr. Do Ba Dan, MSc, who serves as the Director. With extensive expertise in science, technology, and digital transformation, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the Institute’s operational model and setting strategic research and application directions.
The collaboration between the Scientific Council, the Advisory Board, and the Executive Leadership forms a multi-tiered knowledge governance structure. This model integrates strategic foresight, academic peer review, and operational management. Such a co-creative structure enables the Institute to function under a system-oriented and adaptive coordination logic, allowing it to respond effectively to the demands of digital transformation in an increasingly volatile and complex environment.
By aligning science policy formulation with real-world technology deployment, the Institute maintains a strong capability in technology forecasting, while establishing a two-way feedback loop between theory and application. This is a critical foundation for developing highly usable solutions that are adaptable to specific contexts and scalable within the national digital transformation ecosystem.
To realize its strategic vision and implement its scientific and technological directions effectively, the Institute is structured into two main divisions:
Affiliated Units
Functional Departments
The Affiliated Units include specialized centers responsible for research, development, and implementation of technological solutions in specific areas:
AI Training Academy
Technology Exchange Platform
Drone Research Center
Digital Transformation Center
Cryptographic Security Center
Security Testing Center
Traceability & Transparency Center
The Functional Departments—including administration, finance, legal affairs, communications, external relations, and strategic planning—support and coordinate Institute operations, ensuring organizational stability and responsiveness. This tight integration between specialized expertise and flexible organizational management enables the Institute to operate efficiently and adaptively.
IDT also serves as a hub for up-to-date news and insights on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, science and technology, and emerging tech trends in Vietnam and globally. Curated bulletins offer timely, in-depth perspectives that are valuable to researchers, policymakers, and businesses alike.
Additionally, the Institute curates and maintains an open-access digital resource repository, offering a wide range of content: research reports, thematic publications, recommended readings, and academic materials. This resource library serves managers, researchers, and anyone interested in Vietnam’s digital transformation journey.
With a strong focus on bridging research, application, and community service, IDT continually expands its partnerships, enhances academic and professional excellence, and promotes digital knowledge sharing. As digital transformation becomes an irreversible trend, the Institute is committed to supporting organizations, enterprises, and government agencies in building a resilient, adaptive, and sustainable digital foundation.
